Ho’oponopono

The Art of Letting Go

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian word meaning literally “to make right” or to correct errors. This word is used to describe a technique to solve problems in which family members gather to improve relationships through prayer, discussion, confession, repentance, mutual restitution and forgiveness. Much like a group mental cleansing, Ho’oponopono is a way to release past grudges, to let go and live at peace with yourself, those you love, and those around you.

The practice goes back to the mid 1900’s when Mary Kawena Pukui documented her experiences with this practice in her 2 volume book titled “Nānā i ke Kumu” which translates to Look to the Source.

In her volumes, Kawena describes Ho’oponopono as a practice where family members gather with the intention to bend broken family ties; much like the family meetings that therapists recommend nowadays, except Ho’oponopono includes prayer, confession and mutual compensation.

In 1980 Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, a Kahuna (Healing Priest) herself, developed an updated version of the practice of Ho’oponopono to be implemented individually by all who need and desire to heal their hearts from resentment and discord. The main focus of this practice is to realize and accept complete responsibility for one’s deeds and actions.

Modern Ho’oponopono practice is based on the notion that everything we experience and exists around us is a projection of what we carry inside. Thus, it is our total responsibility to change our reality. In philosophical terms, this concept relates to solipsism – the only thing that exists is our mind.

The whole of reality is contingent upon the self’s perception, or the world within. The events in the world without (our outer world experience) are composed of mere interpretations of the self, having no objective existence. It is our own life experiences that got tattooed –so to speak- into our subconscious mind that compels us to “play them back” every time we encounter a new experience within the same realm.

Truth is, there are no new problems. As human beings, we carry the same blueprint since the beginning of time. We’re just playing and replaying the same old patterns. Carl Jung, Swiss Psychiatrist, referred to this as collective unconsciousness also known as a reservoir of the experiences of our species.

One of Jung’s famous theories associated with archetypes explains this concept more in depth. In it, Jung suggested the existence of universal stereotypes. These channel our experiences and emotions in a way that result in recognizable and specific behavior patterns which generate certain probable outcomes.

Memories are recorded in our subconscious mind and passed on from generation to generation. As we combine these inherited memories with our own life experiences we give birth to our own set of beliefs which make us behave the way we do. Many times, these memories fabricate limiting beliefs that manifest in vicious cycles we cannot seem to get rid of. For instance… how many times have you wanted to stop a certain behavior consciously only to realize later on that you have fallen into the same pattern, yet again?

Realize that every time you are unhappy or frustrated with one of your patterns, is because you are acting based on memories, either your own, your ancestors’ or a combination of both. As creatures of habit, this is why it seems so difficult for us -human beings- to break away from nagging routines or ways of being.

In most instances we are not even aware of this happening. This is also what makes us so unique. It may take years of self study into self discovery to get to know oneself.

The practice of Ho’oponopono enables us to release these old patterns and memories in order to emerge as the pure beings we truly are. It allows us to let go of erroneous thoughts that are preventing us from discovering our full potential and from being our true self.

Ho’oponopono Self I-Dentity practice

The updated Ho’oponopono practice, also called Self I-Dentity, is different from the group gatherings that characterized its roots. It is also different from modern day therapy and counseling. In this new version, it is the individual the one who starts this practice from a place of self conviction, free will and definite purpose.

Commitment and responsibility are present. The individual is aware of the fact that nothing needs to be fixed in the outer world, but that everything starts within the inner realm.

As mentioned above, the first step is to acknowledge that you are responsible for everything that happens in your life. As hard as this may be for some, this is an absolute essential to begin transformation, because by taking responsibility you are accepting that you are capable of modifying those aspects of your life that are not bringing you the results you want.

As simple as this may sound, it is the hardest part. Once you assimilate this and are willing to accept full responsibility, you are ready to move forward.

Thank you
I love you
I am sorry
Please forgive me

The simplified “how-to”

When you are ready, go to a cozy corner where you won’t be distracted and take a few minutes to be by yourself.

Sit or lay down comfortably, take a few deep breaths and close your eyes… try to set aside any problems you might have had during the day and just relax.

Now, repeat these four phrases over and over to yourself, either aloud or in your mind. Do it slowly and quietly, giving yourself the opportunity to feel the words. Focus on each word and pay attention to how you feel.

Here are some examples to follow…

  • What are you thankful for?
    Be thankful for the opportunity to clear this and let go.
  • Who do you love?
    Feel love towards the person who hurt you and towards yourself.
  • What are you sorry for?
    Feel sorry for whatever you did that caused this experience to manifest
    (this is where you take full responsibility)
  • What are you asking forgiveness for?
    Ask for forgiveness from your Higher Source and forgive yourself.
    Release and let go of what has caused this conflict and/or suffering.

Take a few moments to just be with these feelings. Let go of interpreting, ego and blame. When you are ready to continue, say a prayer for that somebody that is suffering or that has caused you suffering. It doesn’t need to be a prayer from a book, but from your heart. Breathe deeply, open your eyes, smile and go about your day feeling at peace with your being.

A Powerful Self Help Technique

One of the memories I hold dear to my heart, is my father’s persistence in my learning and practicing autosuggestion as a self-help technique. At first, I thought this was a silly little thing and didn’t give it too much thought. However, every time he saw me getting stressed about upcoming school tests, he’d remind me of the power of autosuggestion, recommend an approach and encourage me to give it a try.

So one day I did… and –of course- nothing happened. Nonetheless, I decided to keep on trying as he’d warned me that it would take practice and consistency for it to work.

After all, I had nothing to lose, and if he was right, it would help me get rid of this annoying thing that I experienced every time I had a test at school.

You see, every time I was about to start writing answers to the questions posed on my test, my palms would start sweating profusely to the point that the pencil would become slippery and I could not write fast enough, let along legibly!

This was not only tremendously annoying, but it slowed me down and stressed me more. So I kept on practicing autosuggestion as instructed by my father, until the day I was able to notice the change that made me a believer.

As I felt less anxious and more confident, my palms stopped sweating. Not only that but the more I practiced, the better the results I got. Needless to say, I consider autosuggestion an invaluable technique that I practice to this day for a variety of things, from getting up early in the morning without an alarm clock (give it a try, it is fun and it’ll make you a believer!), to more elaborated goals.

But what exactly is autosuggestion and how it can help you?

Long before affirmations and the law of attraction became common talk, autosuggestion was used for many purposes, either consciously or unconsciously.

As you certainly know, the subconscious mind receives all kinds of information from the conscious mind. These bits of information come through our five senses and are related to how we see and perceive the world around us. When these experiences are repeated continuously, they sink into the subconscious mind and become an intrinsic part of who we are, what we believe and how we behave.

Unfortunately, some of these experiences may not be working on our behalf. And fortunately, there is something that can be done about that. With this I mean that we can condition our subconscious mind to hold certain beliefs to enhance our experiences; and through repetition, they become the reality we experience on a regular basis.

The autosuggestion technique helps you precisely with this. It is a technique that when learned and applied correctly, has the power to influence the subconscious mind according to your instructions. In other words, autosuggestion helps your subconscious mind believe a specific affirmation with an intended goal.

An interesting fact is that autosuggestion goes one step beyond positive affirmations. This is because affirmations are broader in structure while the autosuggestion technique bypasses your thinking mind and the awareness of your material body to go and affirm your unique human spirit identified with the words: I AM. This fact alone makes it a more powerful statement directed precisely to your subconscious mind.

Here is an example for you to compare. The first statement is a positive affirmation; the second line has two autosuggestion statements. More on that in a moment.

I AM happy” and “I AM wealthy

I invite you to read both lines out loud. Did you feel the difference while stating out loud “I AM”?

I am not saying that affirmations don’t work. What I’m implying is that autosuggestion statements can be a more powerful technique for some of us. As individuals, we know well that what works for one may not work for another. Give both a try and see what works for you. That is the ultimate goal, after all.

The following three steps will help you practice autosuggestion effectively in your life:

  • “I AM” statements.

Always use “I AM” to state your suggestion in the present moment and in the first person. As you have already experienced, there is something intrinsic and very powerful in those two words. These words center you right at the precise moment you state them.

As mentioned above, one simple example of this is “I AM happy”. When this self affirmation is stated on a regular basis, it becomes an autosuggestion which eventually sinks into the subconscious mind where it will be taken at face value. Moreover, this practice will help you focus on happy moments on a more regular basis versus the anxious driven, overwhelmed or sad moments you may be experiencing in your life.

An interesting thing to notice is that those sad, anxious moments won’t just disappear in a blink; however, your subconscious mind will become trained to focus on “happy” moments instead; thus, bringing more of those experiences to your life. If you have ever met a person with huge problems and wondered how they manage to smile and live life on a positive slant, now you know how.

  • Align your auto-suggestion with relevant emotions.

When you add feeling to the statement as if it’s happening right now, your subconscious mind takes it as an actual reality in the moment of now.

It’s important to mention that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between reality or fantasy, nor among true or false, or yes or no. This applies to feelings as well. Thus, when you make an “I AM” statement with feeling, your subconscious will take it at face value, just as if it’s happening right now, giving more power to the autosuggestion.

  • Repetition is powerful.

Write your statement exactly as you want to impress it upon your subconscious mind. Then read it aloud several times until you memorize it. Make it a point to repeat it as often as you remember throughout your day and preferably state it out loud. This engages more of your senses, reinforcing the statement you are thinking about.

Commit to do this often, several times per day, until it becomes second nature to you and you see your statement come to pass. It is NOT recommended to use two or more autosuggestion statements in one sentence as it delays the actual experience of both. For instance, when I wanted to get rid of my sweaty palms while taking school tests, I just focused on “I AM confident.” This statement allowed me to get rid of my test-taking anxiety, and answer the questions in a relaxed manner, which resulted in dry palms.

Once your goal is attained, you can move into using a new autosuggestion for another area of your life.

Statistics show that the average adult processes over 60,000 thoughts every 24 hours and of those, 90% happen at a subconscious level.

When you consider this, you can clearly see why most of us live on automatic. Now, while some of these things are perfectly OK to do without conscious involvement –such as brushing our teeth or tying our shoes- I’m sure you’ll agree with me that more important things require not only involvement on our part but conscious intervention.

This is where autosuggestion can play a major role in changing your life for the better.

I encourage you to add this method to your self development techniques arsenal. Learn it and practice it on any area of your life, from day to day living to more elaborated and bigger life goals. As you practice and get better at it, you’ll become more and more amazed at the results you can create!

  • The more I love him/her, the more he/she loves me.
  • I express love freely and openly.
  • As I give love, I am instantly filled with love myself.
  • I radiate love to all persons and places, to all living creatures and things.
  • People are just waiting to love me, and I allow them.
  • I breathe in universal love.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed during the Holiday Season or during a special occasion or event such as the planning of a wedding, presenting an exam, or going on a trip, is considered relatively normal as most of us are capable of handling these types of temporary situations successfully. However, living in a constant state of overwhelm has become the norm rather than the exception for many people.

Chronic overwhelm is one of the most debilitating emotions. It is a sensation that cannot easily be brushed under the rug while expecting it to disappear altogether just a few days after the main trigger has been dealt with. Moreover, if ignored indefinitely, the consequences become a burden on the overall well-being of the affected person.

Depending on how you handle stress as an individual, the effects of this condition may take time to become evident but ultimately, feeling overwhelmed regularly can affect your mind, body and spirit unless you learn to implement steps to recognize and alleviate it.

So, what do you do when you are feeling overwhelmed? Or better yet, are you even aware that you might be in a constant state of overwhelm? This is an important question to ask yourself as the feeling itself prevents the awareness… and you cannot work on making anything better unless you are first aware that the problem exists.

Let’s explore the mechanics of the condition.

The feeling of overwhelm derives from the stress caused by your reactions to life’s ups and downs. From Overwhelm to Clarity

The feeling of overwhelm intensifies every time a new task gets added to your already overtaxed schedule. The resulting sensation is one of inadequacy, wanting to give up, anxiety, sadness, and even depression. As you are probably aware, your emotional health eventually affects your physical health unless you take measures to solve this situation.

Let’s now explore what happens inside when you are feeling overwhelmed:

Once a stressor is present, the adrenal glands –that sit atop the kidneys- go on override to produce cortisol, the stress hormone that helps us during the “fight or flight”response. This physiological response is natural and meant to last only a short time. Under normal circumstances, once the threat is gone, the cortisol levels dwindle down, until the need arises again. This is a wonderful mechanism of the body with the purpose of keeping us safe and well.

However, when we are chronically overwhelmed, the levels of cortisol remain high in our system which had the potential to damage healthy tissues. Eventually, adrenal fatigue causes constant sleepiness or insomnia, foggy thinking, fatigue that can go from temporary weakness to permanent exhaustion, weight gain, depression, irritability, and mood swings. As the adrenal glands become depleted, adrenal exhaustion sets in giving way to a variety of serious health conditions.

Also, from the metaphysical view point, feeling overwhelmed and stressed will inhibit your potential to manifest abundance because feeling overwhelmed is a low vibration state!

So what can you do to ease on anxiety and on feeling overwhelmed?

  • Nutrition– cut down on stimulants, decrease refined carbohydrates, increase green leafy vegetables in your diet, drink plenty of water, and take a nutritional supplement.
  • Rest– sleep at least 7 to 8 hours per day, and take breaks from activities throughout the day.
  • Lifestyle– reduce your stressors consciously, exercise more and take frequent walks, practice yoga, dedicate time to an activity that you enjoy, breathe properly and deeply on a regular basis, and meditate.

One of the first things we learn about the law of attraction and quantum manifesting, is that in order to manifest our desires, we must begin by taking control of our thoughts. However, even before we attempt to take control or change our thoughts, we must become aware of a few facts, and consciously acknowledge and accept them.

First and foremost, know that you are the creator of your own reality and destiny. This implies a great deal of responsibility. If you are ready to change your life experience, you must accept this responsibility in its entirety.

This means you start by studying your thought patterns to then understand why you act the way you do and clearly see why you are getting the results you experience.

Second, realize that everything you wish for already exists on another plane of existence or in different form. As you know, everything IS energy and as such it cannot be created nor destroyed, only modified. Thus, like a child playing with play-dough, you have an amazing opportunity to mold and create what you want starting with what you have.

Third, atoms are made up of non-solid subatomic elements that are neither particles nor waves; however, they can behave like both. As strange as this may sound, this allows for these bits of energy to behave according to the observer and his intention. In other words, they are 100% malleable and from that premise you can conclude that there is only one constant in every ‘experiment’ in your life and that is YOU.

Now you know it is YOU who gets to decide how these particles are to behave in order to create what you want in your life… when you think about it, the possibilities are truly unlimited! As soon as you internalize these concepts and make them yours, you start living from the knowing versus from the wishing for, hoping for, dreaming of…  and once you achieve this inner knowing, then and only then will quantum manifesting become as easy as child’s play.

As hard as it is to believe the unseen, consider this… Buckminster Fuller, American inventor, author and creator of the term “Spaceship Earth” said that 99.99% of science is invisible to our five senses and nevertheless it is very real!

I’d like to add an example that we can relate to because we all have experienced it at one time or another… the common cold. Caused by a microscopic virus that cannot be seen with the naked eye… does the fact that we cannot see the virus makes it non-existent? That’s non-sense, right?

The fact is we -human beings- live interacting with our surrounding environment through our five senses, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that we perceive ALL that exists. It’s been proven, for instance, that certain animals can perceive high pitch sounds that are non-audible to humans. This only means that there is stuff happening around us that we are not even aware of!

Furthermore, we are creatures of habit and like such, we are used to certain things behaving in a certain way. Thus, it takes time to create a shift in our personal and collective paradigms. Add to this that we are living in the middle of one of the largest paradigm shifts that mankind has ever experienced and it is easy to see why we may experience some resistance to openning our minds to the possibilities when we first hear of quantum theory and quantum manifesting.

About 300 years ago, Sir Isaac Newton revolutionized the world when he began describing the phenomena that surrounded him in a mechanical and practical way that explained how everything worked and why it worked the way it did.

At the time, everything was easily proved as he used ‘observation’ with the naked eye as his main scientific tool. For instance, when he observed an apple falling from a tree, he discovered gravity.

Those concepts evolved into the laws of physics that ruled the world for about 200 years. Then, a new era of sub-atomic energy emerged in the late part of the 19th century and everything changed.

The new Quantum Mechanics Theory has opened a new door to view and experience the world around us in a very different way and it challenges Newton’s laws as scientists begin to admit that the mere act of observing can change the result of any experiment according to the observers’ intention. Looking at this concept a bit deeper we realize that the observer and the observed are not separate… you and I, and every other person and thing in the universe, are all connected. You’ve probably heard that we are “star dust” and it makes perfect sense. Every single thing in existence today came from the primordial energy, which was the size of a pea when the Big Bang ocurred!

This understanding is what creates the new paradigm, a completely new way to perceive the world, life, our reality and every single thing. Everything is subjective. We are part of a consciousness that is interconnected and it is all ultimately, one energy.

The concepts above lead to the Quantum Manifesting principle. When we learn to use our mind to ‘observe’ our reality the way we intend it to be, we are actively engaging in quantum mechanics to manifest our desires; meaning, we are attempting to mold and create a certain reality.

We do this by applying what we know of the wave/particle duality to our advantage. In other words, the observer (you) of an intention (the ‘experiment‘) can change the outcome according to intention where the purpose itself rearranges particles in a precise way out of waves with multiple possibilities.

The keywords here are intention and observation. Picture the waves of possibility extended throughout space and all the way to the infinite. They are one thing and all things simultaneously. They are in this state indefinitely when they remain unobserved.

Once observed with a particular intention, these waves contract abruptly (quantum jump) aligning themselves into precise patterns according to that specific intention and create an outcome that materializes accordingly. This is what we call Quantum Manifesting.

When we live passively throughout life, we are manifesting by default, by chance and as things happen… it all happens unconsciously. Know that when you are not making a decision, you are making a decision… the decision not to decide; thus, things happen randomly and on automatic.

Realize that you –as an observer have the potential to manifest by true intention and choice through Quantum Manifesting by deciding to do so. Knowing this… what will you decide? what will you choose to manifest in your life experience from now on?

Regardless of your profession or career path, your culture or language, your age or where you live in this vast planet, the pursuit of happiness is one common goal to all of us, human beings. Every time we have a dream, set a goal, pray, or wish for something, the underlying emotion we are seeking is happiness. When we have an experience that causes pleasure or has meaning to us, we bring about a positive feeling that translates into joy.

According to the dictionary, happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy. One definition I found at a Princeton University website says that happiness is a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

I believe happiness can be compared to an elusive butterfly going from one flower to another in the garden of life. Let’s use this analogy and imagine a young child walking in the park on a sunny day.

The child sees a colorful butterfly and with eyes of wonder follows its flying pattern. Curiosity makes him want to get close, touch it and even hold it in his little hands.

The child walks with his arms stretched out towards the flower where the butterfly is resting on, but as soon as he gets within reach, the butterfly takes off to land on another flower.

Determined, the child follows the butterfly to the next flower, and then the next, and the next… but no matter how much he chases it, the butterfly always remains out of his reach.

As adults, happiness can seem like a butterfly, always a few steps away… over there… out of our reach. To some, it may become an obsession. They believe that if only… this or that would happen they’d be truly happy. Their minds are caught up in the ‘if only’ mode continuously…. If only I had more money, a better job or my own business… if only I was in a great relationship, if my partner was more loving or my child was a better student… if only I could have the SUV I’ve been dreaming about, live in a bigger home or travel to Hawaii for a week or two… then, I’d be happy.

Even if they were to achieve one of their ‘if only’ desires, the bliss would be temporary. They would sooner or later get accustomed to what they got, and start feeling unhappy because they don’t have –or they want- something else. This feeling gives birth to the next ‘if only’ desire perpetually. Do you know anyone like this?

See, when you go through life feeling blue most of the time, you tend to believe that external events, things, or circumstances you want will give you the happiness you are seeking when these things happen. However, let’s realize that material possessions, circumstances, and events will just bring short-term happiness. These things will never have a lasting effect in your life even if you get to keep them for a while.

Just like the saying goes… “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”, if you base your happiness on things, you’ll always be chasing happiness based on things out there, “on the other side of the fence.” Subsequently, your focus and perception are always based on outer events, which will harbor feelings of dissatisfaction, discouragement and unhappiness in your heart and life experience as a whole.

Every human experience encompasses a mixture of pleasant and unpleasant circumstances. Because of this, no one should rely on experiences as a source of happiness unless they want to live in constant turmoil or experience the eroding ups and downs of an emotional roller coaster ride.

If what you want is true, long-lasting happiness, you must become aware of the fact that living happy is a state of  being, not a state of having.

Happiness is an inner condition that can be attained by all who truly desire to live in happiness most of the time. Yes, I say ‘most of the time‘ because certain unavoidable life events will bring sadness, that’s just a part of life. However, if your normal state is that of happiness, sadness will be temporary as you will recover faster from sorrow or despair.

There is no gene that determines who’ll be happy and who won’t. You and I are capable of becoming happy people and living happy lives IF we understand that happiness is never related to the world out there, but to the world within.

The inner contentment that allows you to navigate through the ups and downs of life has its roots deep within your being. Thus, the only true source of happiness comes from finding and embracing who you are as a person, and from there you can live a happy life overall. Finding peace in every aspect of your life is also important… the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual.

Once you accept yourself ‘as you are’ and find peace in all of these areas, you get a sense of completeness in life; and the result is a flowing state of happiness.

If you neglect any one of these areas, you’ll experience a sense of emptiness. You may not be able to identify this nagging feeling right away. It just feels like something is missing. If this happens, it will be hard to get a solid foundation for building permanent happiness within. Like I mentioned above, many will try to fill this incompleteness by looking for outer stuff, such as the cars, the trips, the things.

This is the reason why falling into the elusive butterfly syndrome is quite common for so many people. They may get what they want and feel happy for awhile, only to discover later on that they’re feeling empty all over again. The feeling of frustration lingers and the cycle repeats itself once and again, unless they learn the secret to being happy despite life’s circumstances which starts with working on their inner self.

So… is happiness an elusive butterfly for you? If so, spend some time in quiet reflection. Ask yourself how you’re doing in regard to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of your being. If you notice that you are neglecting one of these four important elements of your being,  you’ll know why you are experiencing a sense of emptiness within. This is a good starting point that gives you direction to modify or improve your life experience.

Remember, it is perfectly fine to desire more and get some things to make your life easier, more comfortable or pleasant, but do not confuse the euphoric feeling of getting things with real happiness.  Enjoy the fruit of your labor. You deserve it. But, do not let the object possess your happiness, ever.

The more you experience happiness as an inner job, the more often you will experience the butterfly of happiness landing on your shoulder.

Creative Visualization

A simple and excellent technique to help you create your reality is creative visualization. With it, you make a conscious decision with a solid intent to manifest the deliberately created images in your mind.

This powerful technique has been used by top performers and athletes successfully worldwide. Sales people are trained to visualize themselves closing the sale, and marathon runners endure mental training in which they are taught to use imagery to see themselves crossing the finish line.

There is no reason why creative visualization wouldn’t work for you. The only thing you need is faith in your powerful mind and in what it can create, plus a bit of determination and patience. So get excited and let’s learn how to use this technique effectively.

Start by elaborating on one goal. It works better if you concentrate in achieving one goal at a time. Start by writing down a few specifics of the goal you want to achieve. Take the time to modify it and re-write it until it resonates with exactly what you want to see happen, details and all. Then, read it aloud every morning as you wake up and every night right before you retire. Do this for at least three days before you start visualizing. Make sure you are saying it with unwavering conviction and have faith that you will see it manifest.

On day four, prepare for your creative visualization. Set aside some time and plan to dedicate some time to your practice. Choose a quiet place and prepare to relax by sitting in a comfortable position and placing your hands facing up on your lap.

Take a few deep breaths by slowly breathing in through your nose, and slowly breathing out through your mouth, until you feel a slight tingling in your muscles which means you are relaxed.

Now focus on your goal and draw a detailed picture of it in your mind, just as you have written it and repeated it. Let’s say you want to experience swimming with dolphins.

Imagine this exact picture in your mind as vividly as possible: Visualize the dolphins and the blue ocean, hear their squeaks and whistles, smell the salty ocean, touch their soft, slippery skin when you rub their bellies, feel the cold water on your skin and look at the dolphins eyes to feel connected to them and the experience. Now, notice the happiness this experience is bringing to your senses.

Take the time to love every aspect of your experience as you imagine it. Bring it to life by FEELING every aspect of it and use as many of your senses as possible. Picture it exactly as if you were there!

One amazing added advantage about creative visualization is that you can feel and obtain the same benefits of the actual experience by just living it in your mind

Our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between real or make-believe, so when you engage all of your senses in the “imaginary” experience, you’re actually making your mind “believe” it is happening right then and there. This practice will release the energy which will move the right elements to bring what you want into the physical plane.

Be patient and persistent. For some of us it may take longer to see results, but if you have faith and know in your heart it will happen, it just will.

You can apply the creative visualization technique to almost every aspect of life, from goal setting to memory improvement, from sports performance to weight loss, from self-healing to enhancing mood, from problem-solving to decision-making, and everything in between.

You can even use creative visualization to create abundance and prosperity!

Once you get a hold of it, you can visualize virtually anywhere and anytime. Just find a quiet place where you can be by yourself and not be disturbed for a few moments. I’ve heard some people get so good at it, they can do it while riding the train or sitting at the beach on a busy Sunday morning!

Remember… just relax and keep the focus on what you want to do, achieve or acquire. Add as many details as you can and engage your emotions. Simply keep replaying this inner film in your mind as if you were actually participating in it. And if you want to make your visualization more vivid and effective, you can create a vision board and/or state affirmations. These techniques will give life to your imagery.

Emotional Freedom Technique or Meridian Tapping

You have an amazing power to heal yourself, to reduce your pain and speed your healing process. This power was given to you at birth, but most likely you are not aware of it. Even if you’ve heard about this power, you may not know how to tap into it to your advantage… The good news is that it’s easy to learn and use, so you too can get startling results!

It all starts by becoming aware of the link that exists between mental, emotional and physical health. This concept has been gaining credibility in recent years, especially after Louise Hay started talking about the subject nearly 20 years ago.

Louise Hay’s books “Heal Your Body” and “You Can Heal Your Life” explain her philosophy based on the understanding of how emotions affect our health and how properly stated affirmations can help us regain our health. I highly recommend these books, especially if you want to know how the healing process works from the inside out.

Science has already proven that stress and mental strain can have an impact in our health. Therefore, it is safe to assume that releasing emotional strain must have a positive impact in our health. Once this fact is brought to awareness, we become better equipped to assist and support our healing process. Emotional Freedom Technique, better known as EFT or Meridian Tapping is a powerful and simple practice that can help prevent or alleviate physical pain, diseases, phobias and many other emotional issues.

Tapping works because it facilitates the clearing of limiting beliefs and unconscious blocks that can be the underlying cause of chronic conditions. Some EFT enthusiasts claim that it can even help create monetary abundance and prosperity. When we consider that energy blocks are the cause behind beliefs of lack and limitation implanted into the subconscious mind, this actually makes sense. In essence, this technique offers a gentle way of dissolving these blocks and limitations, freeing you to create a healthier, happier, more abundant life.

Just to be fair, EFT is not a miracle cure for all diseases; however, it usually works well for many common conditions  such as chronic pain and many mental anguish ailments. All you need is learning the technique, the tips of your fingers and a few minutes to follow the sequence. Frequently, spectacular results can be achieved where nothing else had worked!

  • Going back to the beginning of the 20th century, Albert Einstein discovered that everything is made up of energy; yes, including the human body. Recent Quantum Physics studies have confirmed this is a fact. If, like Einstein said… “Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed” – we can affect and alter the flow of energy within to help the body heal.
  • About 5000 years ago, the Chinese revealed that a certain life force essential to sustain life exists in the universe. They called it Qi – pronounced “Chi” – and its literal translation is energy.
  • Eastern Medicine has long recognized the importance of maintaining good health by keeping a free flow of energy within the human body. This is where the practice of acupuncture gets its roots from.
  • The Hindu books of knowledge called “Vedas” affirm the existence of seven energy centers in the human body. These are called “chakras” and each has its unique frequency and vibration.
  • Ayurvedic Medicine, a traditional medical practice in India (ayu means life and veda means knowledge or science), is based on treating the energy centers by restoring their balance so energy can freely flow in and through the chakras and renovate the “prana”  or life force.
  • These very energy pathways serve as principles in the practice of acupuncture and acupressure.

It has been said that unresolved negative emotions, like resentment, anger, traumas, regrets and guilt, are intimately linked to some physical conditions and diseases. For instance, certain types of cancer have been linked to holding feelings of resentment.

book and dvdIf we now know that the human body is an energy system, it makes perfect sense to assume that every emotion and every experience has an impact in our energy centers either positively or negatively. We have all experience this at some level; however, it can be subtle so not too many people recognize it unless it’s brought to their attention.

If you have ever felt the muscular tension that comes after an argument, for instance, you know how an energy blockage feels. For energy to flow freely, we must be relaxed and in peace most of the time. Hence the saying “go with the flow…”  Not easy, I hear you say; and you are absolutely right. This is one more reason to learn EFT, so you can handle the stress as you need it or on a day to day basis. The few moments that you dedicate to this practice could pay off big by having good health until the golden years.

Moreover, there is usually a correlation between the onset of disease and a significant event in life that has created some type of trauma. For instance, research has discovered that there is a clear correlation between PTSD and the onset of heart disease or diabetes type 2. When we consider the points mentioned above, we can easily conclude that a trauma can produce a blockage in the energy flow which in turn manifests as an illness.

Now, while this is not always the case, it happens often enough to pinpoint a correlation. Having said that, the link between trauma and illness is not yet well understood, and we don’t know either why some people are more vulnerable than others. What we know is that there are several factors at play, such as predisposition due to genetic factors, individual immune response, and even the degree of resilience that a person might have developed.

Taking it all into consideration, there is a good reason to believe that tapping can help either curve the response to a traumatic event to either prevent disease or to alleviate some of the existing symptoms by opening the energy flow.

Reiki is a Japanese Healing Art based on ancient wisdom. From health to spiritual and financial abundance, Reiki can be used to create abundance in every aspect of life.

The word itself derives from two elements. ‘Rae’, which means Universal, and ‘Ki’ that refers to Life Force Energy, or that which gives us life.

Thus, we can refer to Rei-ki as The Universal Life Force Energy or the vital energy that we are connected to through breath.

Every time we breathe, we bring into ourselves this Universal Life Energy. It is also said that, Rae is the Universal Spirit (also called God or The Source) and Ki is manifestation of that spirit in all living creatures; however, it is important to mention that this healing art has no religious affiliation of any kind.

When we work with Reiki, we are working with the Spiritual Force or the energy that we all share, energy that lies within us and is available to us all.  As we work with Reiki our intention to balance the chakras or sacred energy centers from which all of our functions, integration and enlightenment spring from.

Reiki works in a comprehensive manner. It offers to empower and balance your chakra energy system as a whole to bring your body, mind, emotions, and spirit into harmony. Our energy flow can get obstructed as a result of a variety of energy-snatching causes like negative experiences, worries, feelings, emotions, day to day stress, malnutrition, and even germs and pollution.

Thus, manipulating our energy will help us reestablish the balance in the energy flow within so we can live in harmony within our inner world and with our outer world.

Reiki therapy is totally harmless and has a wide range of uses. As mentioned above, there is no specific methodology for a muscle pain or a headache. And there is no special treatment for depression or anxiety either.
